Nostalgia is easy once the danger is gone.

Click here for (as always) a great post from Jeremiah’s Vanishing New York, this time pointing us in the direction of Josh Alan Friedman’s podcasts taken from his extensive interviews 30 years ago during the dying days of that version of Times Square, and which were the source material for his “Tales of Times Square” book.  I’m a little embarrassed that until know I was unaware of this book, but I’ve got a copy on the way now to rectify that deficiency. In Jeremiah’s interview with JAF we get what I consider one of the best quotes I’ve heard in a very long time, and one which this blog is going to commandeer as its own motto (with proper credit to JAF of course):

“Nostalgia is easy once the danger is gone. “
